Ereka Vetrini Hosting New NBC Daytime Talkshow

Ivillage_2

Ereka Vetrini was one of my favorite brides from 06' and her wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens was absolutely fantastic. Besides being a former bride of mine, Ereka also happens to be a television talkshow host. She got her start by first appearing on the first season of Donald Trump's "Apprentice" show and then she moved on to being the co-host of the "Tony Danza" show. This week, she premiered as one of the new talk show hosts for NBC's "In the Loop with IVillage." In NYC, the show airs Monday thru Friday at 12PM on channel 4. The show is terrific and is centered around womens' everyday issues. Below are some promo videos from the show featuring Ereka Vetrini, Bill Rancic, Kim Coles and Donald Trump:

Calling All Brides Who Would Like to Model

On Sunday October 15 next week, Adriennes Bridal Salon will be hosting a bridal fashion show featuring the exquisite bridal designs of Gina Pedone (the store owner and head designer at Adriennes). We have 3 models so far for the show but need about 2-3 more models to model the the beautiful gowns that day. The sample gowns are for women size 6 to size 10 with height of 5' 6" to 5' 11". I've had so many gorgeous bride clients (you know who you are) who can definately model for this. If you're interested (or know someone who would be interested), please give me a call asap. You will be paid for your modeling time.

Gina also asked me to photograph the show but unfortunately, I'm booked for a wedding job on that day. However, the show will be photographed by my super talented associate photographer Julie Skya. Julie's work is fantastic and of course we'll let you get the shots she takes.

One of my best friends, Tanna, a beautiful bellydancer has finally launched her much anticipated website. I've known Tanna for over 10 years. She was the first dancer to dance for me at my very first solo art exhibition. I've photographed her countless times. Tanna has helped me so much with my fine art and wedding business and I owe her so much for all the good advice and help she's given me over the years. Her new website features lots of photos by me. You can also check out her website to see video clips of her performances. She also happens to be one of the most athletic and fit bellydancers around and has produced two bellydance fitness videos. They're absolutely great for workouts and you can purchase them off her website.

Dalia Carella New Theatre Show

Dalia Carella is known in the dance community as an innovative and cutting edge choreographer. Last year I went to see her Broadway dance show, "In Search of Goddesses" and it was absolutely fantastic. I was delighted when she contacted me back in February this year to photograph some promo material for her new theatre show. The new show entitled, "Cabaret Macabre - Theatre du Bizarre et Surreliste" will premiere in October and I know it'll be awesome so please check it out. Here's the link to her site as well as ticket and theatre info:

I promised Dalia that I wouldn't showcase any of the photos from the promo shoot until after she announced and advertised the new show. Since she's recently done that, I'd like to share just a few of the shots from the shoot with everyone.

Dalia wanted a gothic and errie ambiance for her new show. I wanted to capture that feel and add a journalistic edge so I took these shots during a rehersal in April.

This style of photography isn't as foreign to me as some might think. When I was in art high school and began to build a fine art photography portfolio, I was very influenced (almost obsessively) by the genius film and theatre work of Ingmar Bergman. I tried very hard to emulate the look and ambiance of his work with my photography back then. In high school and to a certain degree, my early college years, I was a B&W film and darkroom junkie shooting modern and avant-garde dancers. All I shot was grainy B&W T-Max film and I would spend countless hours per week dodging, burning, using contrast filters in the darkroom to make my photography look like gothic theatre and movie stills. Sometime in the next month or so, I'll have to get around to scanning a bunch of my high school/early college portfolio prints (over 12 years old) to show everyone where my work evolved from. Until then, why not rent out "The Seventh Seal" or "Persona" from Blockbuster's classic film section. These were two of my favorite Bergman movies that had a profound impact on me and my art.

Bridal Expo at New York Marriot East Side Hotel

1_marriott_ad

The New York Marriot East Side Hotel, one of Manhattan's leading wedding ballroom venues, will be holding an exquisite bridal expo next month on May 8, 2006 from 6-9PM. I'm excited to be the exclusive photographer invited to participate and showcase in the event and to be one of the selected vendors recommended by the renowned venue. They'll be champagne, hors d'oeures, prizes given, live music provided by the terrific Bud Maltin Orchestra, and guest speakers. They'll also be raffling off a free engagement photo shoot by Lina Jang Photography (meaning me) for future brides to be. The event is free and it'll be so fun so rsvp, bring a friend and hang out. Also if any of you guys know any soon to be brides who haven't booked a reception venue, please let them know about the expo. The New York Marriot East Side will be fully decorated and presented during the expo. I'll post some pics after the expo so stay tuned.

Design by Jim Parks using Lina Jang Images

My good friends Karin and Melanie of Kassar have finally launched their website. I've been photographing these immensely talented tribal dancers since 1999 and I've probably done more fine art shoots with them than anybody else. Check out their beautiful website (designed by Karin's talented husband Jim) at:

www.kassartribal.com

On their website, you'll find out info about them, along with when and where they'll be performing, their class and workshop schedules, and a gallery of some of the images I shot of them over the years.

They'll be performing during the opening reception of my gallery show and they're the ones featured on the front of my invite.

My Upcoming Fine Art Show and the Invite Postcard

I'm so amped up about my upcoming show "Excursions" coming up in April at the LITM gallery in Jersey City. I've got the invites designed below and I'll be mailing them out the second week in March. If you're not on my mailing list, please email me so that I can send you a formal invite. However, everyone is invited to come to opening reception on April 1st without receiving a formal invite. It's been about three years since my last solo show and this one promises to blow away the last one. First of all, I've got about 40 new and edgy pieces that I will be showcasing for the first time; pieces that were shot in exotic locations like the deserts in Cabo, Mexico and some of the most unusual studio sessions I've ever shot. Of course they'll be some of the most exotic and sensual dancers performing during the opening including tribal and bellydancers from around the nation. Spread the word and I hope to see everyone there.
