My 30th Birthday at the Polynesian Cultural Center - May 28, 2007

Lina

I celebrated my 30th Birthday in Laie, Hawaii at the Polynesian Cultural Center. The center is part learning center and part theme park. There were dance performances, live musical concerts, educational tours, canoe boat rides, and shows offered the whole day. The park is a not for profit organization and all the profit they make goes into scholarships for Polynesian college students. In fact 85% of staff at the center is made up of Polynesian college students. The Polynesian culture encompasses lots of Islands from Asia to Australia. Fuji, Tahiti, Samoa, Hawaii, the Philipines and even my anscetry has Polynesian roots. I had a fantastic time at the center and below are just some of the shots I took that day.

Here are some pics of the beautiful grounds at the center.

ZO2 Concert - May 27, 2007

While I was still away in Hawaii, my good buddy, Paul and his band, ZO2, had a concert at the Canal Room in Manhattan, NY. I promised Paul that I would photograph one his big gigs but since I was away in Hawaii, I had my awesome associate shooter Ania Bibulowitz photograph the concert. She's a huge rock and heavy metal fan and loves shooting concerts so it was no surprise that she did a phenominal job; some of the best work I've seen from her. Besides ZO2, she also photographed the opening band, Craving Lucy, another great rock band. Below is a slideshow of some of my favorites from the concert with ZO2's music playing in the background.

Fine Art Photo Shoot with Jessinia - May 27, 2007

While I was in Hawaii, I hooked up with a local bellydancer, Jessinia. Besides being a bellydancer, Jessinia also owns and operates A'Kai Silks, a bellydance silk veil company. She makes gorgeous veils. Jessinia also happened to be 7 months pregnant at the time of the shoot. For the shoot, Jessinia and I wanted to do something different, edgy and interesting. We decided to paint her skin green and do the shoot in the jungle. We had a blast. The trek going through the jungle was an adventure itself. Below are just a few shots from the awesome shoot.

Clare & David Wedding - May 26, 2007

Back in May, while I was busy shooting a wedding in Hawaii, my dynamite associate photographers Julie and Ania shot a great wedding at the Crescent Beach Club in Long Island, NY. They did a fantastic job. The wedding was really unique for us because the groom's brother (also the best man) happens to be Eric Lagstein of Be Creative Photography. Eric is a great wedding photographer in his own right.

Here's a pic that Eric photographed of me and Brooke (his photo partner and wife) from a wedding we all shot together a while back.
Lina_brooke_3

I knew Eric would be scrutinizing our work so I told Julie and Ania to do a great job and of course they did. Below is a slideshow with some highlights from Clare and David's wedding.

Ereka Vetrini Hosting New NBC Daytime Talkshow

Ivillage_2

Ereka Vetrini was one of my favorite brides from 06' and her wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens was absolutely fantastic. Besides being a former bride of mine, Ereka also happens to be a television talkshow host. She got her start by first appearing on the first season of Donald Trump's "Apprentice" show and then she moved on to being the co-host of the "Tony Danza" show. This week, she premiered as one of the new talk show hosts for NBC's "In the Loop with IVillage." In NYC, the show airs Monday thru Friday at 12PM on channel 4. The show is terrific and is centered around womens' everyday issues. Below are some promo videos from the show featuring Ereka Vetrini, Bill Rancic, Kim Coles and Donald Trump:

Dawn & Derek Wedding - May 25, 2007
